A bit about us;
Our client are a specialised training college for the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning industry. Established over 30 years ago it has become known for its short, practical commercial courses alongside NVQ apprenticeship training. Delegates range in both age and experience levels and the students regularly reach Student of the Year competition finals and compete in the national WorldSkills competition.
For those interested, our client are looking for an experienced refrigeration/air-conditioning engineer to join the team who is passionate about the industry and passing on their knowledge to others. With a wide range of commercial courses and growing numbers of both level 2 and 3 NVQ groups, they can offer variety and new challenges for the right person.
The role:
Teaching a mixture of established groups studying for their City & Guilds 6090 RACHP apprenticeship qualification (level 2, 3 through to End Point Assessment) alongside the commercial courses, aimed at experienced engineers wanting additional skills or anyone moving into the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning industry. With a potential age range from 16 to 60+, having an engaging, adaptable style is essential with small groups reaching a maximum of 11 per class.
As they are accredited to provide a number of City & Guilds' qualifications, including the 2079 F-Gas, 6187-21 Hydrocarbons and Brazing, and 2078-02 Ammonia, the role also includes assessing delegates, as well as the training and practical work, which is intrinsic to all our courses.
Successful applicants will have:
- At least 5 years’ experience in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning industry
- Ideally, some of this will be ‘on the tools’ for first-hand experience and examples you can pass on
- F Gas Category 1 and a minimum L2 RACHP Diploma
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability engage young people/ of all ages
- Passionate about delivering a wide variety of courses
- Ability to take ownership and work collaboratively with the rest of the team to develop new courses
- Assessor and teaching qualifications would be an advantage, although training will be provided
- Knowledge of hydrocarbons, ammonia and or carbon dioxide also an advantage but not essential
- An enhanced DBS certificate, although this can be obtained on joining
