Our client are looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to join their team in the UK.
The main focus of this role is to support learners through their Functional Skills maths and English qualifications (at level 2). You will need to have a range of strategies to support learners in the manner that best works for them.
The Team
In this role you will be part of the Functional Skills & Support Team. Our client are passionate about empowering individuals and cultivating high performance with impactful learning solutions. What you'll do:
- Checking outcomes from initial and diagnostic assessments.
- Providing advice and guidance to Programme leads and their learners re: ways to upskill in English or maths.
- Reviewing outcomes from Additional Learning Needs screener.
- Setting up suitable cohorts of learners in both subject areas.
- Planning delivery.
- Creating and updating supportive resources.
- Monitoring progress and maintaining records on Smart Assessor.
- Liaising with Programme Leads to keep them on top of learner progress.
- Amending delivery or resources as required to meet learning needs.
- Highlighting any issues as they arise and setting suitable strategies to overcome them.
- Providing support to other departments as needed.
What our client are looking for
The suitable candidate must have a teaching qualification and have experience in delivering maths and English Functional Skills to level 2. An awareness of learning support methods and strategies would be helpful. An understanding of the demands of the role from a quality assurance and inspectorate perspective would be a bonus.
