Our client is a membership organisation focused on bringing together government, employers, training providers, colleges and universities to deliver industry needs. We work collaboratively across the transport industry and key stakeholders to provide awareness, advice, and support for members to enable them to help build effective skills strategies.
Our client are looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to support business
growth by building a sustainable pipeline of opportunities as well as develop and
maintain collaborative working relationships with clients and members. This will
involve identifying opportunities, taking ownership of bids from design to submission,
working with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Work with the HMD to implement a customer relationship management
programme with member organisations and maintain accurate company CRM system
Develop and grow existing accounts;
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with members and partners that add value and maximise member satisfaction
Build and manage your sales pipeline to secure new business
Prepare and submit sales proposals
Arrange and attend meetings with prospects, making presentations including
demonstrations of company products
Stay up to date on current market sector trends and feedback to the business.
Support the development and delivery of member events
Engage with members at events, seminars and working group meetings
Collaborate with colleagues to reach more potential customers and increase
brand recognition
Own ultimate responsibility for successfully meeting or exceeding sales goals
To undertake any other duties at the request of a manager which are
commensurate with this role.
Essential attributes:
Previous experience of business development and account management
knowledge and experience of vocational skills desirable
Demonstrable track record of achievement in a commercial, client-facing role
Working knowledge of CRM systems
Commercially aware with strong business acumen
Self-starter, motivated to identify potential business opportunities
Capable of working under pressure and to time constraints, with the ability to create business proposals
Ability to network and establish relationships.

Excellent interpersonal skills - confident, articulate with a persuasive manner
Strong attention to detail
Good negotiating skills
Team player
IT literate, good knowledge and capability with MS Word, XML, PPT
