Purpose of the Role:
The role of an Automotive IEA/IQA is to provide independent, fair, reliable and consistent assessment services to Assessu clients. This includes conducting end point assessments, forming judgements on competency in specialist sector and providing the assessment outcome. In addition, to quality assure the EPA learner journey, including assessment decisions of Independent End Point Assessors (IEAs, to ensure consistency and reliability of assessment judgements, grading and adherence to Assessu delivery models and quality assurance policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities:
- Plan and conduct planning meetings with allocated learners and employers in a timely manner.
- Schedule assessments with learners and employers according to stipulated and agreed timescales.
- Conduct assessments within own specialism including observations, marking of projects, professional discussions and presentations.
- Invigilate exams where required, ensuring controlled conditions are maintained.
- Manage allocated learners to ensure all stages of the EPA journey are completed timely and to the expected standard.
- Make judgements on a learner’s knowledge, skills and behaviours within specialism and record outcomes on relevant documentation.
- Communicate with learners and employers to support the assessment process.
- Update the relevant systems as required throughout the planning and assessment process.
- Ensure learners are scored or graded in line with requirements.
- Provide high quality feedback for all learners on their assessment performance and outcomes.
- Be able to lead meetings, structured interviews and discussions
- Monitor the IEAs interpretation and delivery of assessments in line with the related Assessment Plan, Assessu EPA guides, assessment tools and policies
- Monitor Invigilators interpretation and delivery in line with the related Assessment Plan, Assessu EPA guides, invigilation policy and processes
- Analysis and moderate grades awarded by each IEA, identifying risks and report findings
- Ability to work in and adapt to a changing environment
- Fully support the IEA’s and Invigilators in order for them to fulfil their duties including guidance, mentoring and coaching where required
- Manage own self effectively to ensure the IQA sampling strategy and IEPA development/support plans are met
- Carry out IQA sampling activities in line with Assessu quality assurance requirements
- Monitor the QA and risk rating of IEA assessment activities and give clear, concise supportive feedback with SMART targets
- Develop and monitor quality assurance sampling rationales and action/development plans for IEAs
- Effectively communicate with the Assessu management team by supplying up to date outcomes of sampling activity for each IEA/Invigilator
- Carryout site visit with IEAs to observe the full EPA activities on an on-going basis (at EPA Centre)
- Observe Invigilators to ensure compliance with Invigilation policy and processes
Personal Specification:
- Educated to GCSE level grade C or above including Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Assessor qualification (e.g. TAQA, A1, Award in EPA)
- IQA Qualification
- At least 3 years' experience in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician environment, with 'hands on' experience in the industry
- Hold qualifications, or have undertaken training, that has legislative and technical relevance to the heavy vehicle service and maintenance technician standard
- Commitment to complete industry CPD on a minimum annual basis
- Ability to travel to National EPA Centre, Derby and locations throughout the UK as required and stay overnight where required
